(Whoop, hope this fills your space god fluff needs!
Featuring two characters I might develop into proper OC’s, Sam and Ghaleus. both are complete and utter sweetie pie nerds!
Don’t exactly know how I’d draw them together since Sam is practically microscopic compared to their friend…
Story features much platonic affection and a big blushy bby (or two actually, they both blushy bbys tbh)
It was a clear and beautiful night, stars twinkled in the dark skies above the grassy hills and the world fell silent in sleep.
It was in moments like this that the earth seemed truly beautiful with it’s twinkling lights and quiet peace, not just from the planets surface but from way up outside it’s atmosphere too….
One could hardly imagine that two beings born in those two separate vantage points could ever meet, nevermind become friends and yet- somehow, they had.
Sam sat on the mossy blanket that covered the deserted mountain range, they were so far away from any other living being they could well have believed the world was abandoned when looking out across the fields and forests!
They had always loved this secluded spot away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but it wasn’t just an escape.
This was one of the few places they could meet their best friend.
Sam looked up as a great myriad of colours spread across the sky, a soft light shining down upon them as the unfathomably colossal eye of their friend came into view, filling the entire sky.
Anyone else might have mistook it for an aura but as Sam smiled up they knew it was simply their friend looking down at them- if they could’ve seen his face in it’s entirety they felt sure he’d be smiling too, a great feeling of happiness spread through Sam as he communicated with them telepathically, words a and feelings appearing in their mind as if by magic.
“Hello Sam, what a beautiful night it is.” Even in their head the voice boomed with the strength of ancient power, stronger than thunder and yet full of softness and kindness.
“Hey Ghaleus.” Sam whispered back, knowing that somehow their friend could hear.
A little humph of confusion came from the space god and Sam looked up to see great darkness fall over the brightness of his eye before disappearing again, it was hard to believe that was just him blinking..
“You seem….quieter today. Is there something on your mind, my friend?” Ghaleus asked, Sam let out a long sigh and flopped down onto the mossy ground, staring up into the infinite space of their friends gaze.
“It’s nothing, just a bit down is all.” Sam said, watching the rhythmic pulse of the colours in the sky.
“Down as in….sad, yes? Not at a lower altitude than usual?” Ghaleus replied, reminding Sam that he was still a little rusty with some double meaning words.
To be fair he was doing amazingly considering his own native language was completely abstract in any human sense, it’d taken a long time for them both to be able to communicate at all!
With a soft nod Sam let out another sigh, plucking a bundle of moss absentmindedly and training it through their fingers.
It had not been a pleasant week for them, they’d been fired from their job unfairly and had a terrible falling out with their partner- all they wanted to do was lie out in the wilderness with their best friend, not having to think about their troubles…
“Should we talk about it?” Ghaleus asked, Sam could tell by his tone he was worried for them and they smiled softly at the thought of a titanic space god getting concerned for someone as insignificant as them.
“No, I’d rather just forget about it all for now- if that’s alright, big fella.”
The two fell silent for a while, Sam just getting lost in the shimmer of the night sky that was their friend as they lay on the mossy ground.
They could almost forget that the sky they were looking up at was a living being as they lay in silence, an almost lonely feeling crept in as they realised this was as close as they’d ever get to each other- Sam would never see Ghaleus’s face more than this brief glimpse of an iris high above them…
“I didn’t realise that upset you.” Ghaleus’s voice made Sam jump, they realised he must’ve been reading their mind (something he thankfully rarely did, after one or two embarrassing incidents he’d quite gone off mind reading)
Sam grumbled a response, sending Ghaleus a rather colourful mental image to show their discomfort in him using his mind reading power again.
The low chuckle they received in return told them Ghaleus had certainly learnt a few more human gestures then last time they’d spoke.
The sky became silent again for a few moments, until a polite cough caught Sam’s attention again.
They sat up and gave Ghaleus their full attention, smiling softly up at him to show there were no true hard feelings- they understood he only used his power because he was worried about them.
“I have a proposition, Sam.” Ghaleus said, his voice taking on a tone of authority as it did whenever he was about so suggest something that he was unsure the response to would be.
“Would you care to join me in my domain, dance amongst the stars for a while?” Ghaleus continued “I can keep you safe up here, there’d be no danger as long as you were with me.”
Sam’s eyes practically lit up at the thought, the sheer excitement at the prospect of seeing not only their friend but outer space as well!
Sam jumped to their feet, hearing the soft laughter in their head as Ghaleus chuckled at their obvious excitement.
“You can do that!? I mean you know I need oxygen right, you can’t just…put me in space.” Sam called up.
“I’m a thousand years old, I think I know what I’m doing.” Came the slightly curt reply “my entire life has been dedicated to your kind and-”
“Alright, I get it- ancient space god, born to protect the earth and all it’s inhabitants yada yada yada.” Sam interrupted “come on Ghaleus, let’s get on with it! I wanna come up there and see your face, you daft lug!”
“How rude.” Ghaleus’s false offended tone was hardly covering his happiness that Sam was cheering up, they were normally such a cheery and excitable person that this past week had seemed dreadfully out of sorts for them.
“Well then, just relax and i shall transport you- as long as your sure your ready for this.” Ghaleus said “no human has ever seen one of my kind before.”
Sam gave Ghaleus a confident nod and stood ready, half expecting a huge hand to come down from the sky and scoop them up.
Instead a great dizzying feeling came over them and a beam of shimmering light enveloped them, lifting them off their feet in a most weightless fashion and bringing them up through the air!
They closed their eyes so as not to see the scenery whizzing by, only opening them as they felt the sudden lack of wind on their body- they were outside of the atmosphere now, somehow still breathing purely because of Ghaleus’s great magic.
As Sam looked around at the earth way below and the void of space around them, unimaginably huge objects suddenly began to descend towards them, making them jolt in surprise.
It didn’t take them long to understand what they were though, despite their iridescent and shimmery quality somehow Sam could recognise them as the tips of Ghaleus’s fingers steadily approaching.
Sam’s vision was filled with the shimmering walls closing all around, fingertips the size of moons gently closing around them and squishing them just the right amount- as close to a hug as one could expect from a space giant.
Sam’s breath escaped them as they stared at the ridged landscape of Ghaleus’s fingerprints, great mountains and troughs that reminded them just how gigantic their friend was.
Slowly the fingertips loosened and Sam found themselves lying on a platform bigger than the earth itself, almost lost amongst it’s wrinkles and lines as impossibly huge fingers towered over them like pillars.
The soft surface felt as warm and comfortable as Sam’s own bed and when they looked up from their wonderful position they let out a huge gasp of wonder- there, big enough to fill the skies of the entire solar system, was Ghaleus’s face.
Huge eyes full of swirling colours could somehow focus on Sam despite them being practically microscopic to the space god, a wide smile seemed to welcoming and long flowing hair that moved like shimmering stardust frames the most beautiful and breathtaking face Sam had ever seen.
“Are you alright? If this is too much, let me know- I know this can be a shock, seeing someone so big.” Ghaleus’s voice wasn’t in their head now, Sam could hear it- even feel it like a somehow gentle and exhilarating shockwave!
They’d expected Ghaleus’s true voice to hurt, or purely not to exist at all in the vacuum of space and yet there it was in all it’s bassy glory.
“N-no no this is great” Sam squeaked “you just look more…human than I expected!”
“Is that a good thing?” Ghaleus sounded almost worried that his appearance might be bothering Sam, they could hardly believe someone so…so spectacular could be concerned about their looks!
“It’s a very good thing, it’s a damn fine thing.” Sam said breathlessly “Ghaleus you’re- well, you’re gorgeous.”
A deep red flush came to the titanic gods cheeks and one huge finger came tumbling down to gently brush against Sam playfully, somehow despite being large enough to crush an entire continent the digit bumped against them just like a friend might bump shoulders!
Sam felt an exhilarating shiver run down their spine with every movement and they barely noticed the infinite beauty of the galaxy around them as they stared up at their beloved friend, a grin spreading across their face as they stood up and explored the terrain of his palm.
“How come you never told me you were good looking, huh?” Sam joked as they snuggled up into the crook between Ghaleus’s finger and thumb, the walk there had been fairly exhausting and It was such a comfy spot.
“It never came up in conversation.” Ghaleus mumbled in reply, obviously flustered.
Sam fell silent for a while, lost in wonder as they trailed their hands across the acreage of skin around them, thinking about how truly minuscule they were in the grand scheme of things.
Suddenly Ghaleus rose his hand up and Sam gasped as his face came closer, eclipsing all else from their mind as those pristine facial features came into sharp focus like a monumental landscape.
“Sam.” The word was mostly lost on the human who was too busy mesmerised with the movement of Ghaleus’s lips, trying to fathom how someone so huge could even exist.
“Whuhh….” Was all Sam managed as they felt a great blush cross their own cheeks, staring blankly at the gigantic face before them.
“Would it be alright if I….tried something?” Ghaleus asked “I don’t want to jeopardise our friendship, if it’s too much I understand- alright?”
“Uhh..what? Wait, yeah. Yes. Absolutely.” Sam said.
They had no idea what Ghaleus meant but they were up for pretty much anything at this point, their best friend was gorgeous and they were to busy revelling in the fact they were literally in the palm of a god.
“Close your eyes.” The command was gentle and almost unsure, but Sam obliged and screwed their eyes shut with an excited giggle.
The entire universe seemed to become silent, all Sam could hear was their own rapid breathing and the thump of their heart.
Then something soft pressed against their entire body, warmth flowing through them and making their giggles intensify as they found themselves being pressed down into the plush surface of Ghaleus’s palm by the soft pressure.
Sam’s eyes snapped open in time to see Ghaleus’s face retreating away, the sudden realisation that that had been a kiss from the space god made them curl up into a little ball of flustered embarrassment as the huge chuckles of their friend shook through them.
“Ghale, oh gosh!” Was all Sam managed as their smile grew even wider.
“Was that alright? I didn’t make you uncomfortable did I, I know neither of us see the other ‘that way’.” Ghaleus asked softly “I’ve just never had someone to share that with.”
“No no no, no no, no that was nice- thank you!” Sam squeaked, covering their face in their hands “also my first, but yep- don’t think anythings gonna top space god smooches.”
Ghaleus’s smile told Sam he appreciated them not taking his actions the wrong way, Sam knew he’d been on his own for his entire life without anyone to show affection too- they were fairly glad they got to be the ones to allow the space god some intimacy!
As the two sat in contemplated silence (broken only by Sam’s quiet giggling) a great exhaustion past over Sam, the sheer excitement had burnt them out and now they were tired.
They let out a soft yawn and snuggled up closer to Ghaleus’s soft skin, patting him gently in the best affectionate way they could think of.
“You are tired now, are you not?” Ghaleus asked softly, curling his hand around Sam like a blanket big enough to envelop worlds.
“Mhhm….Ghale m’boy, I’m not going to lie I’m about to fall asleep in your hand.” Sam mumbled up “if I snore just ignore me.”
Ghaleus nodded gently and relaxed into a position closer to lying down in the empty void of space, gently bringing his hand closer to his chest as he enclosed huge digits around Sam’s comparatively microscopic form.
“You can rest, I’ll take you back home after a while.” Ghaleus whispered as Sam’s heavy lids began to drop, they slowly started to slip into a blissful deep sleep as the exhaustion of magic and excitement drained the last of their adrenaline.
“This is…the best day…of my life…” Was all Sam could mumble before slipping into sleep, more comfortable than they had ever been as they lay with their best friend- a fact even more solidified now they’d met face to face.
Sam had never felt closer to anyone before, they loved Ghaleus with all their heart and it was a refreshing change to have someone love them back without wanting something in return- they were so used to people mistaking affection and love for the want of romance, it was nice to be just….close to someone.
The last thing Sam heard before their brain ran into the world of dreams, was the soft whisper in their head of Ghaleus’s voice….
“Sleep tight, Sam….”
iirc, Tolkien once described the Ainur as like vast conical shapes, where we might only begin to grasp the very pointed end, however that doesn’t negate that the rest of their beings do expand in depth and breadth into something like infinity.
That’s what this reminded me of!
