Chapter 56 of The Exiles Ever After is up at Jukepop Serials!
The Exiles Ever After is a serial novel in a fairy tale-like world of sky giants, flower countries and otherworldly marketplaces. It is the story of:
Ezra Kettle, a giant (though not an unreasonably large one by his reckoning) exiled from a city in the sky for a crime he didn’t commit who just wants to unlock the secrets of his family’s secret recipes and find out who’s responsible for that beanstalk. He runs into:
Marjorie Snow, a human and former court jester and current handmaiden/bodyguard with a bit of an honesty problem and a number of secrets. She does whatever she feels is necessary in order to protect her liege and best friend:
Philomene Marl Thumbelina, princess of the tiny Flower Folk, currently in hiding and performing scientific experiments in an attempt to save her equally tiny and endangered kingdom from a malicious Toad and a plant-related calamity. They also encounter:
Basil of Sethwhile, the prince of a nearby kingdom who is himself under a curse and living with his married fairy godmothers as he attempts to earn the title of Prince Charming. Ezra has a crush on him, but Basil is oblivious.
These four must learn to band together, work around their differences and trust one another if they’re going to survive the many perils lurking around them.
The story also features the following: an Uplifted Atlas moth, at least one bear, sinister otherworldly forces, a fairy market, lots of strange plant life, the sorts of issues that occur when one is a bit larger or smaller than what is considered “normal” in one’s setting, magical recipes, a variety of misfortunes magical and mundane, a found family unit, issues of trust, and strawberry pie.
