Dr. Mark Griffiths: “The cycle of love: Another look at objectum sexuality”
For the mechaphiles – er, mechanophiles – out there. (I propose ‘mechaphilia’ be reserved for humanoid machines, as a subset of ‘mechanophilia’, as it were.)
I like this guy. He’s been in the field for decades, writes dispassionately and without sensationalizing, and sometimes even borders on sympathy. Mostly he’s just informative, keeping up with research and studies as they happen.
He’s got two pieces on macrophilia, too! Though he does make the mistake of conflating it with giantess fetishism, though I think that reputation is on its way out.
No mechaphile that I know, myself included, says “mechanophile” or means mechaphile in the sense of loving giant robots. Although I do know some mechs who are into robots as well as other mechanical things.
eta: I can’t read the article. The link goes to a WordPress login screen.
Very strange. It worked originally… anyways, here’s a functioning link: https://drmarkgriffiths.wordpress.com/2016/02/08/the-cycle-of-love-another-look-at-objectum-sexuality/
Re: what you actually said: it’s funny because most people I know who are into robots (giant or not) call themselves mechaphiles too, even though they’re not into vehicles, et al. We just got into the habit because that’s what the anime genre is called, probably.
For me, ogling planes is a wayyy different experience than ogling mechs, so I need two separate words.
