low-key kinda want a g/t dating site because g/t is a necessary part of a relationship for me tbh
For a second, I thought you wanted a g/t otome game so I got hyped up about the idea. Now i’m actually disappointed that there are no visual novels about that theme.
I’ve talked to a couple of friends about the idea of making one together someday but it’s one of those things you talk about but probably never do, you know?
I feel like it should be a community-wide project. We should all get in on this thing. Artists! Writers! Programmers!

I mean honestly even if we needed funding, you know how many g/t trashlings (like ourselves) would back that on kickstarter? How many people who would wanna play the thing?
I mean it’s a niche community, people are gonna be all about it.

It’s bitter to say, but I agree. It’s something that no one will actually take the initiative to do on their own, and that’s totally fine! Maybe someday in the future a company in the visual novel industry will want to practice the idea of g/t tropes. We’re not to far from it, y’know?
We have had a game about birds, there’s one about jewels, we have ossan themed games and even last year there was a game released about muscle growth.
I’m going to sound like a downer, but I think group projects derail after a few weeks. Especially for something online between a random collective group of people that happen to hold the same interest. Like, you would really need loyal teammates. Because without a deadline, money for labor, and a solid agenda of scheduled meetings, the project just expires. Time is a huge opportunity cost.
However, maybe the community can create an alternative? Perhaps dedicate a month as a g/t dating sim event so everyone could participate? Everyone creates their own “character page” and people can go out and try to pursue their partner? That could be a neat way to engage with others (but I wouldn’t encourage pressuring anyone into becoming romantically involved or making anyone uncomfortable) If they’re willing, then people can make fake screenshots of dialog or celebrate however they want. Eeeeh? If something like that becomes popular, then maybe that’ll inspire an actual g/t datim sim?
I’ve got to agree with the big bun, making a game without a dedicated, focused team and well set milestones and deadlines rarely ever works. But at the same time just building a loose structure and hoping someone comes along to do it rarely works either =(
I’m going to be honest, I don’t really care much about dating sims, or the lovey-dovey G/t fluff, because as an aromantic asexual it usually fails to grab my interest. But as a fellow G/t fan who feels our niche is grossly underrepresented in the gaming world, I can completely related to that need to fill a void

Well, an idea that’s been discussed for a different sort of game would be something like “Who’s Your Daddy?” but with human beans and borrowers. It’d be co-op with tinies trying to borrow specific items around a giant house, and the humans are trying to capture the tinies.

As an ex-gaming industry artist, even with those things it’s hard as fuck and the odds aren’t in your favor unless its a AAA title, unfort.
