I’m still here!
Just… deadlines. And ECCC happened. And I moved, sorta. And another deadline is coming up way too fast. And I haven’t been able to use my work machine since before ECCC, but I should be getting the new part for it on monday? and then I can draw stuff again. (I haven’t forgotten about the giveaway!)
All this time away form a real computer has had be thinking about my story, though. I knew it would be different to write about robots that don’t turn into their own means of transportation, but I really didn’t have any clue just how stifling that would be, given the same circumstances. Like it’s basically a dealbreaker.
I think I’m going to start over. Go all out with the cryptid and conspiracy thing, since that’s my favorite stuff, and add a good helping of speculative/social SF, since that’s more different faorite stuff. I’ve been reading some of JMG’s installments of Retrotopia, and I think I wanna do a setting with elements like that. First contact in a post-space program world? Shit, sign me up. Writing the family drama was really exhausting, too; like, prohibitively so. I was channeling a lot of my own experiences and emotions into those scenes and it was just too hard.
Anyways, I’m not dead!
